Ulsan Hyundai will take the first step in their quest for a third consecutive Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Champions League (ACL) stage title.
Ulsan announced its starting lineup for the 2023/24 season’s first-leg ACL group stage match against Khartoum at Munsus Stadium in Ulsan at 7 p.m. today.메이저사이트
The biggest changes to this year’s ACL are that it will be played as the Chuseok Festival, which begins in the fall and continues through the following spring, the foreign player quota has been expanded from 3+1 to 5+1, and the group stage was played at a neutral venue last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but will be played home and away again this year.
Ulsan, who won the K League 1 title last season, will be looking to make it three in a row in the ACL this season and will face off against Pathum, Zorrochbaru, and Kawasaki Frontale in the group stage.
Despite Ulsan’s recent run atop the K League One standings, the team is not in a great place. With two draws and one loss in their last three league games, the gap between them and second-place Pohang has narrowed to six points. Therefore, a win against Pajuum will be crucial for both the ACL and the league to turn things around.
Ulsan will go with a 4-2-3-1 tactic. In addition to Cho Hyun-woo in goal, Kim Tae-hwan, Jung Seung-hyun, Kim Young-kwon, and Lee Myung-jae make up the back four. Lee Kyu-sung and Lee Dong-kyung are in the third line, while Lee Cheong-yong, Bojanic, and Bako are in the second line to support Martin Adam up front.
Ulsan has faced Pathum in the ACL group stage before. The two teams were grouped together in 2021, and Ulsan’s 2-0 victory at home and away emphasized the clear power differential.
It will be interesting to see if Ulsan can overturn their poor form in the league and keep their fans happy as they begin their third consecutive ACL campaign.
