In the 5th inning, with one out and runners on first and third base, Nathaniel Rowe scored an RBI with an infield ground ball. In the 6th inning, with 2 outs and runners on second base, Marcus Simien and Corey Seager hit consecutive doubles, steadily accumulating points.
It wasn’t until the bottom of the 7th inning, when Tampa Bay fell behind 0-7, that they recovered one point. After one out, Josh Rowe and Isaac Paredes hit consecutive hits. Manuel Margot was out on a fly ball to center field. With 2 outs and 1st and 2nd bases, Curtis Mead hit a timely hit to left to avoid embarrassment.
Tampa Bay has not won in fall baseball since winning Game 1 of the 2021 Division Series against the Boston Red Sox. Tampa Bay lost three straight games after winning one game in this series. In 2022, they met the Cleveland Guardians in the Wild Card Series and ended the season with two consecutive losses. This is a 7-game losing streak, including a 2-game losing streak against Texas this year.
